I’m trying to build a network. A group of people I like to follow online. People I trust and respect. People I would want to work with one day. I want to have meaningful dialog with people, across lots of web sites. I read some ungodly number of blogs daily. I contribute via the comments when I think I can help. And now that’s frustrating me.

It’s impossible for me to remember from day to day where I have left comments. Why don’t more people have the option to subscribe to a feed of comments on a post? How did this become not a best practice? Am I the only one frustrated? I use Netvibes religiously, I even have a tab dedicated to comments feeds where I have posted. I just don’t understand why that tab always has to be empty. It’s easy to implement, why don’t people do it?

I want people to interact with me on this blog. If some one makes a comment, and asks a question, I want to answer it. If they bring up an interesting point, I want to reply to it. I need to keep the conversation going. Without having a feed for the comments, how does dialog occur? Can every other blog reader really remember where they’ve left comments and just check in every few hours or days?

What do you do when they don’t have a feed? How do you remember to check back in on posts where you’ve commented? Leave a comment, help me out!
